DAY-BY-DAY “VACATION” ITINERARY

The following information is intended to give prospective guests some ideas about how to RELAX on your vacation

and space your activities. If you don’t have time to do all of the following suggestions, pick and choose to your

liking and to the time frame you do have to work with.  Look at our website to see all of the amenities we

have, e.g. kabins, deluxe RV sites, wilderness tent sites, Fun Country with gokarts, slide,

minigolf and more.

DAY # 1

7 – 10:30 am                   Breakfast at the Café (Café is open daily 7am-8pm)

8:30 – 1:30 pm                Royal Gorge Bridge & Park to include lunch at the  Bridge.

                                      (Shuttle is available from Kampground – ask at Registration Desk.)

1:30 – 4 pm                     Remain at Bridge of stop by the Scenic Railway.

5 – 6:00 pm                    Relax poolside or play a round of mini-golf

6 pm                              Dinner at a Canon City Restaurant (ask for choices at Desk)

         or sandwiches or pizza at the Royal Gorge Café.

Until 8 pm                      Ride the go-karts & slide at Fun Country

DAY # 2

7 – 10:30 am                   Breakfast at the Cafe

8:30 – 1 pm                     Go on the Royal Gorge Route Train ride through the    

                                      Royal Gorge and have lunch on ther Train.

         (Reservations may be made at Registration Desk and Shuttle is available.)

1 – 3:30 pm                     Visit Prison Museum, Dinosaur Depot and Rudd House. 

                                     (Walk to all of these from the Train Depot.)

4 – 5:30 pm                    Relax poolside or in your RV, Kabin or tent.

6   pm                             Dinner – Order pizza or get dessert at the Royal Gorge

                                      Café or eat all your supper at the Cafe.

7 pm                               Ride the go-karts at Fun Country or rent a movie (& TV if     needed).

DAY # 3

7 – 10:30 am                  Breakfast at the Cafe

8:30 – 12:30 pm             ½ day Raft Trip

OR

8:30 – 4:30 pm               Full day Raft Trip (inquire at Registration Desk for companies.)

12:30 pm                         Lunch at the Café.

1 pm                               Spend the afternoon exploring area around Canon City, e.g.

    - hike at Red Canyon Park  (get directions at Desk)

    - go antiquing in Florence

    - drive the scenic circle route thru Texas Creek, Westcliffe, Wetmore &

       Florence (take a side trip to Bishop’s castle)

    - drive up Hwy 9 to Guffy to see where the Mayor once was a cat and see

       antique/collectable shops

DAY # 4

7 – 10:30 am                    Breakfast at Cafe

8 am                                Drive to Cripple Creek/Victor area and spend the day. 

                                      The following are suggestions:

         - Molly Kathleen Gold Mine

         - Actual mining operation which extracts gold from tailings

           (take the circle drive from CrippleCr to Victor)

         - Florissant Fossil Beds

         - Spend some time gambling in numerous casinos

(The drive to Cripple Creek is scenic and  is on good two lane blacktop road and is

approximately 50 miles and would take about 1 ½ hours. 

Ask for directions from Desk.)

OR if you come back early

- relax by the pool or at your site

- ride the slide at Fun Country with a “slide all day”ticket

DAY #5

7 – 10:30 am                   Breakfast at the Cafe

9 am                               Spend day on a 4-WHEELER tour (ask Desk for details)

--Other DAY trips: Colorado Springs attractions, Pueblo, Great Sand Dunes, Bishop’s Castle and more.

--Other activities: a round of golf at a local golf course (ask at desk), rock hounding up Phantom Canyon

   Road or Shelf Road (ask at desk for description of these roads).
